I was invited by a friend to join facebook in late 2008.  Honestly at the beginning, I wasn't sure what to do with it.  I only had one friend in my account.  It was the friend who invited me.  I got the point that I am suppose to write something there from time to time.  For some reason, reporting my daily routine to the cyber black hole seemed like an idea I had trouble understanding.

But to my surprise, little by little, more and more people I knew were sucked into the facebook world.  I even had my pages for my business and a community I was serving.  By last week, I had 148 friends and over 50 cities visited, 29 likes, and 2 pages of my own, and some other weird stuff only a facebook user can understand.

All things had gone so good, until last Friday.  Some of my friends started to send emails to me and asked me why I am "friending" them again.  I thought that's strange, because I didn't friend them.  But I didn't think any of it, believing that's some facebook system glitches.  On Saturday, one of my friend called and asked me what the great news I was talking about in an email to his facebook account.  That's when it hit me that somebody is using my name and connection to bother my friends.

How to describe the feeling of being robbed?  It's hard.  Only somebody who was robbed before can really understand.  At that moment, I knew I was robbed.  I did the only logical thing I could do.  I deleted all my pictures and posted my last wall post asking all my friends to "defriend" me.  After that, I asked facebook to delete my account.  Apparently, the delete request takes about 14 days to become effective.  Oh well....I guess I will have to wait for that day to come.

Meanwhile, more and more friends come forward with weird emails and chat history confirming the same disappointing situation.

After 3 years of happy life with facebook, I am, signing off, for the last time, with a sliver of sadness.  Hope you all cowboys and cowgirls have a better relationship with facebook.

Till next time, take care of those cyber accounts and each other.....
